Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has launched Convego Air Mobile, a contactless payment sticker conforming to the MasterCard PayPass contactless card standard. On receiving a sticker from their bank, consumers simply affix their Convego sticker to their phone or PDA and can then use it to make payments at any PayPass accepting merchant.

The sticker measures 43mm x 33mm (1.7 x 1.3 inches) and, says Giesecke & Devrient, "the surface of the sticker provides enough space for customer-specific designs and optical personalization by laser engraving."
"Convego Air Mobile is already being used in several pilot projects by various banks in Europe and North America," the company adds, explaining that "the pay sticker is an important transitional technology on the way to contactless payment transactions by cellphone."
"Convego Air Mobile adds an ideal new dimension to credit and debit card services," says Axel Deininger, head of G&D's payments division. "By affixing the sticker to their cellphone, users can pay small amounts contactlessly, which means they do not have to carry as much cash on them."
"We expect Convego Air Mobile to speed up the market for contactless payment methods," Deininger added.
