Orange launches open source NFC application developer toolkit

Mobile network operator Orange has developed an NFC Application Developer Toolkit and made it available as open source software.  IzyNFC is designed to enable the development of mobile NFC applications based on a SIM-centric architecture and Java platform.

“This toolkit provides an attractive and ergonomic means for development, end-to-end simulation and testing of NFC applications,” Fabrice Marc from France Telecom/Orange Labs told NFCW. “For example, it can be used to develop Java based embedded software for the mobile handset (MIDlet), the SIM (Cardlet), and to manage NFC tags.”

Developers interested in trying out IzyNFC can download a copy of the toolkit from Sourceforge.
