Mobile network operator T-Mobile Czech Republic has begun testing NFC at its offices in the Czech Republic. Participants can use their Samsung Star NFC phones to gain entry to the building and to individual offices, to access networked printers and to make payments in the staff canteen.
The main focus of the test will be on the user interface, says the operator. Knowledge gained during the trial will then be used to form "the basis for the deployment of NFC in other projects with external partners."
T-Mobile has worked with Gemalto on the development of the NFC SIMs being used in the trial and with Xerox, which provides the printing systems and services at the offices, with Alimex which supplies its access control system and with Compass Group's Eurest division, which operates the company's canteen services.
