Following the successful launch of the Cityzi NFC service in Nice, a further "three to five" cities are to receive funding from the French government as the country gears up for the introduction of a nationwide commercial NFC service.

EXPANSION: Up to five more cities may get NFC services over the next year
The French Minister for Industry and Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, has announced plans to provide funding to allow a further three to five French cities to adopt NFC services within the next twelve months.
Speaking at the launch of the Nice pre-commercial pilot last week, Estrosi explained that this expansion of the service would be the second stage of a three-step process leading to a national rollout of NFC services, planned for 2012.
Details of the money available for cities wishing to adopt the new Cityzi service have not yet been finalised but François Lecomte from the Forum-SMSC told NFC World "funding will be clarified soon".
