Broadcom launches embedded NFC tags for consumer electronics devices

Broadcom has launched a new NFC type 1 tag solution, the BCM20203, that is designed to be embedded within a wide range of consumer electronics devices.

“With the stabilization of global standards, NFC is now emerging as the technology of choice for device manufacturers building wireless consumer electronics, and looking to simplify the end user experience,” says Craig Ochikubo, vice president and general manager of Broadcom’s wireless personal area networking business.

“With our BCM20203, wireless peripherals such as keyboards, mice, 3D glasses, and gaming controllers can be set up and configured with just a touch, which addresses one of the biggest concerns with any peer to peer communications technology, and that is usability,” he added.

The Broadcom BCM20203 NFC tag is now available in sample quantities, the company says.
