Telefónica O2 Czech Republic, Komerční Banka, Citibank Europe, supermarket chain Globus and Visa Europe are to conduct an NFC payments trial in the Czech Republic from mid-2011.

The six-month trial involves 200 customers and is aimed at preparing the ground for a commercial deployment of mobile contactless payment systems.
Four Globus supermarkets in the capital Prague and in the city of Pilsen will be fitted with contactless terminals to accept payments from the participants in the trial. Each participant will be provided with a Samsung S5230 NFC mobile phone which will have a payment application pre-installed within an O2 Wallet.
