At a press briefing in San Francisco last week, Michael Hurlston, senior vice president of Broadcom’s home and wireless networking business unit, said the NFC ecosystem finally had the right security tools to unleash the technology.
He added that Google’s announcement of its Google Wallet offering should kickstart the process. According to PCWorld:
The NFC ecosystem of chip and handset vendors, banks, retailers and mobile operators finally has the necessary security tools, Hurlston said. Security is probably the main concern that has held NFC back for the past three or four years.
Broadcom entered the NFC market when it acquired NFC silicon specialist Innovision in a US$47.5m deal last year.
