Korean coffee chain introduces NFC loyalty stamps

Korean coffee shop chain Caffé Bene has become the first merchant to introduce an NFC-based coupon system that provides customers with a loyalty 'stamp' each time they visit, Korea Times reports.

The Olleh Stamp system has been developed by Korean mobile network operator KT, which launched a commercial NFC service in October 2011. Customers simply tap their NFC phone against a terminal in the cafe to receive a stamp. They can then exchange a completed 'stamp book' for a special offer, after they have made a required number of visits.
KT's Mobile Stamp loyalty app, which can also locate nearby participating merchants and display them on a map, is available to download from Android Market.
