The DT-X8 with RFID is designed for use in warehouses, ticketing and security applications and includes support for ISO 15693 RFID tags as well as ISO 14443 A/B, FeliCa and Mifare NFC tags and cards.
Casio has announced a new version of its DT-X8 rugged handheld terminal that comes with built-in support for RFID and NFC.
The Casio DT-X8 can read all common 1D and 2D barcodes using a laser scanner or CMOS imager and, via a new RFID module, can also handle ISO 15693 RFID tags as well as ISO 14443 A/B, FeliCa and Mifare NFC tags and cards.
The Casio DT-X8 is designed for warehouse and other industrial applications and, with the addition of the contactless RFID and NFC module, can also be used to check tickets, security passes and for mobile payments.
“The addition of RFID technology to the DT-X8 is a natural step forward, allowing this very rugged hand-held to be used in many warehouse and retail store operations”, explained Guy Boxall, senior product marketing manager at Casio UK. “Our Japanese engineers have developed and integrated a tiny RFID module that uses a very small amount of energy. This enables the DT-X8 with RFID-read and write function, and the laser scanner option, to be used for 25 hours on one single battery charge”.
The DT-X8 is Casio’s second rugged handheld device that supports NFC. The Casio IT-800 ruggedised handheld PDA was introduced in November 2009.
