Chase picks Gemalto for NFC

The announcement earlier today of a deal between Chase and carrier-led NFC joint venture Isis is just the start of the US banking giant’s NFC plans, the company has revealed.

The bank has signed a deal with Gemalto for a TSM solution for “Chase’s enterprise-wide mobile payments platform”. The Isis deal “will be the first to benefit from this partnership”, says Chase.

The deal will see Gemalto’s TSM technology being integrated into Chase’s mobile payment platform, allowing the bank’s customers’ credit and debit card data to be provisioned and managed over-the-air.

“We have had a long and successful business relationship with Gemalto issuing traditional and contactless payment cards,” says Jack Stephenson, director of mobile, e-commerce and payments at Chase. “We are pleased to expand this partnership to include mobile payment. Gemalto will help us offer our customers effortless and secure mobile transactions.”
