Crosscliq delivers NFC magazine ad for BlackBerry, Rogers and CIBC

Rogers' customer magazine features an NFC-enabled advert

An NFC-enabled advert has been included in the latest issue of a Canadian mobile operator’s customer magazine.

Readers with an NFC phone can tap an advertisement placed by RIM in Rogers Communications’ Connected Rogers magazine to instantly download a holiday gift offer, access free premium BlackBerry apps, get information on the new BB10 lineup and download CIBC’s Suretap payments app.

A video shows how the ad works:

“This is another great example of how NFC continues to deliver innovative and effective advertising solutions especially for the magazine and print industry,” says Ian Barkley, CTO of NFC marketing platform provider Crosscliq. “NFC offers advertisers, for the first time in history, the means to connect the offline print world with the online digital world. Crosscliq’s proprietary platform delivers results that are immediate, dynamic, at a low cost and deeply trackable and measured in real time.”

    1. People keep doing that. It’s just another little thing that underlines the importance of an independent media, really — if we weren’t here to make sure that words we publish stay published, corporations would just change the news all the time to suit their current agenda. That was an innocuous little video, only a few seconds long, but somebody must have decided they didn’t want it seen after all for whatever reason. Sadly, with YouTube, there’s nothing we can do about it; it is entirely up to whoever posted the video in the first place.
