Post Foods promotes breakfast cereal with NFC

NFC cards used by Post Foods to promote a breakfast cereal

Cereal giant Post Foods has used promotional cards equipped with NFC tags and QR codes to enhance engagement with concertgoers at an event in Miami sponsored by its Honey Bunches of Oats breakfast cereal brand.

At the event, which featured Venezuelan duo Chino y Nacho and was broadcast by Univision and 98.3 Mix FM, the NFC cards were used to simplify the event questionnaire process, provide access to free music downloads and eliminate repetitive data entry, says platform provider Camintel.

“Rather than signing in, concertgoers with NFC-enabled smartphones were able to record their arrival by simply tapping their phones against NFC ‘tags’ at the entrances,” the New York-based startup explains. “Post Foods staff used Camintel tags and [our] secure cloud platform to aggregate and analyse data gathered from the concertgoers, enabling the company to deliver precisely-targeted follow-ups.”

“We’re very impressed with the way that Camintel’s NFC platform empowered us to reach out to our customers in new and exciting ways, and we believe there will be tremendous synergy and mutual benefit between Post Honey Bunches of Oats and Camintel,” says the cereal maker’s Mike Foley.
