UK high street promotes business with NFC

Mansfield's NFC virtual shop
VIRTUAL STORE: Vinyl wraps, NFC and QR codes liven up an empty shop in Mansfield

A UK high street has received a welcome boost after an interactive window display using NFC and QR codes was installed to promote education and business opportunities.

C-Instore combined vinyl wraps, QR and NFC to transform the window of an empty shop in Mansfield town centre, allowing passers-by to download the I Love Mansfield app, listen to local radio or receive information on courses at the nearby West Nottinghamshire College.

“Since the launch of our new virtual shop and making our ‘I Love Mansfield’ app available using C-Instore’s NFC compatible ‘tap-in’ points, we’ve seen downloads increase by over 428% week on week,” says Sarah Nelson, manager at Mansfield BID — a partner in the project promoting new business in the town.

“We’ve also seen an increase in visitors to the city, with footfall increasing by 13% over the past three months. We’re delighted with the impact these vinyl displays have had on the city and look forward to using this technology to further benefit our town centre.”

“This project has been a great example of a private and public partnership that is supporting the growth of one of the largest and fastest growing retail destinations in Nottinghamshire,” adds David Barlow, C-Instore’s managing director.

“We’ve had great responses from all those involved. It’s a historic market town that is utilising state of the art technologies, and we’re delighted to be a part of these latest developments.”
