DO IT YOURSELF: Cardboard transforms an Android phone into a virtual reality headset

Developers attending Google’s I/O conference have been given a DIY virtual reality headset that includes an NFC tag for connecting the device to their mobile phone.

The new Cardboard headset is made from a corrugated cardboard sheet, two plastic lenses with a 40mm focal distance, a neodymium ring magnet, two strips of velcro, a rubber band and an NFC tag.

Full details on how to make your own Cardboard device have been posted online by Google along with an Android app and developer documentation.
