Opening with an examination of the EMV landscape and a prediction that EMV card shipments will reach more than 3.5bn units in 2020, the paper provides figures for EMV shipments in different regions around the world including Asia, the Middle East and Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America.

GemaltoThe excerpt also provides statistics on the percentage of contactless EMV cards that have been shipped so far, examines the mobile payments value chain and gives insight into the trends set to shape the industry including continued rapid EMV migration in the US and increased activity in the digital wallet landscape driving increased demand for TSM solutions.

The paper also includes a competitive assessment of seven leading smart card vendors, scored against 10 different criteria. Gemalto tops the league with a score of 90.6 out of 100.

“Gemalto continues to lead the market share rankings, while expanding its product portfolio to add further value and capitalise on additional opportunities up and across the payments value chain,” says ABI senior analyst Phil Sealy.
