White paper highlights actions European card issuers can take to succeed with mobile payments

Tsys white paper Europe

A 14-page white paper highlighting the key actions European card issuers can take to gain a competitive advantage from the arrival of tokenized NFC payments is now available to download from the NFC World Knowledge Centre.

“How European issuers can thrive in an ecosystem defined by tokenisation-enabled NFC payments” analyses the current state of in-store mobile payments in the UK and other key European markets.

It explores how certain factors can propel mobile payment adoption, explains why several regions of Europe are well positioned for success in the market and debates the benefits and risks associated with host card emulation (HCE) versus secure elements. It also explores the opportunity for in-app mobile commerce.

“Issuers are encouraged to determine their m-wallet strategy — whether to build their own or support other pre-existing offerings and then developing top-of-wallet strategies,” says payment processor Tsys, which produced the white paper. “In many instances, the short-term answer will be to do both.”
