GSMA transport white paper

A white paper aimed at giving transport operators, transport authorities and ticket distributors greater insight into deploying mobile ticketing technologies and services while containing costs and improving the passenger experience is now available to download from the NFC World Knowledge Centre.

‘A Global Study in Transport: How Mobile Technology is Enhancing the Passenger Experience’ has been produced by the GSMA and provides a factual overview of mobile ticketing deployments in various markets around the world and analytical insights designed to highlight current trends and best practice.

The paper explores the deployment of mobile ticketing services in ten different markets — China, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Poland, South Korea, Spain and the United Arab Emirates — and features interviews with mobile operators and transport operators to help readers understand the business models behind the deployment of mobile ticketing services, the value chain supporting these services, the consumer experience, the technical solutions and the deployment models used.

“This paper’s primary objective is to give transport operators, transport authorities and ticket distributors greater insights into how their peers are deploying mobile technologies and services to enhance the travelling experience,” the GSMA says.

“Its findings will also be valuable for mobile operators and technology vendors within the mobile ecosystem.”
