PARKING ON TAP: Apple Watch users in the US can now pay to park from their wrist

Apple Watch users in the US can now pay for parking directly from their wrist with a “few simple taps” using the MobileNow! app. The service can also be used to extend parking sessions.

“Using the Apple Watch, customers on-the-go can park and pay without carrying cash, coins, credit cards, or their iPhone (as long as their iPhone is within range),” the company says.

“After you’ve parked your car, follow the instructions on the parking meter or nearby sign. Open the MobileNow! app and confirm your location details or scan the square QR code on the sign using the MobileNow! app or call the telephone number on the sign.

“Once your personal details and location have been verified, you’ll be asked to choose your parking duration. The cost of parking will then be charged to the payment method you’ve set up.”

The service is available at close to 60 locations across the US that accept MobileNow mobile payments.
