Google unveils Nexus live cases with NFC

My Live Case
SNAP DECISION: Google has launched a new range of live cases for Nexus phones

Google has unveiled a series of phone cases that interact with Nexus phones using NFC and enable users to customize their home screen with an animated wallpaper. The cases themselves can be printed with an image chosen by the user and also come equipped with a button that launches the phone’s camera.

My Live Case lets people create their own snap case for Nexus 5X, 6 and 6P phones by customizing it with a favourite photo or map,” Google writes on the Official Android blog. “Our design studio on the Google Store allows you to personalise your phone case with either your favourite photo or a special place on Google Maps.

“Then, with dozens of filters, you can make your design fit your style. Along with your signature case, you get a live wallpaper to bring your design to life on your home screen. Just upload a pic to the site, choose a style, and you’re done.

“Snap on your case to see your home screen turn into a slideshow of poses that you handpicked from Google Photos. To add more shots to your wallpaper, simply tap the shortcut button on the back of your case to launch your camera.”

The cases are available for US$35 and work with Android 4.4 and higher.
