The number of cashless transactions at Hungarian festivals will reach 7m this year, representing an increase of 27% compared to last year’s 5.5m, research from Festipay predicts. “In 2015, the most frequently visited Hungarian festivals were 90% cashless,” the payment solutions provider says. “This year, Festipay electronic payment solutions will be used at as much as 18 festivals.”

Customers of Hungarian mobile network operator Telenor can now make online and in-app payments using Telenor Wallet and MasterPass. “The introduction of the new feature is unique as Telenor Wallet is the first MNO integrating MasterPass functionality into their wallet,” MasterCard says. “Register a bank card and other data necessary for the transaction once in the Telenor Wallet app and choose the ‘Buy with MasterPass’ option at the end of the shopping experience.”

Vodafone Wallet users in Europe will be able to make payments with their NFC phone using MasterCard cards “within weeks”, the mobile network operator has announced. “Contactless card payments using Vodafone Wallet require a Vodafone NFC SIM and are supported on more than 60 Android smartphones.” Vodafone Wallet launched in September 2013 and is currently live in Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, the UK, Italy and Hungary.

Hungarian carrier Magyar Telekom has launched an NFC service that marks the first commercial deployment of Cipurse, an open ticketing standard developed by the OSPT Alliance. The carrier’s NFC SIMs are supplied by Giesecke & Devrient and support NFC payments and the SuperShop loyalty card as well as transportation ticketing.

Magyar Telekom, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom and a member of the Hungarian Mobile Wallet Association, has launched the MobilTarca NFC mobile wallet in Hungary after a successful pilot that began in July last year.
