G&D connects its issuers to MDES for tokenization

PARTNER NEWS: Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has integrated its Convego CloudPay solution with the MasterCard Digital Enablement Service (MDES) to enable issuers to work directly with G&D to implement tokenization for their host card emulation (HCE) based wallets. The partnership marks the first time a third party company will offer MDES tokenization services directly to issuing banks. More

PARTNER NEWS: NFC pioneer NXP and mobile processor maker Qualcomm have extended a collaboration which saw NXP’s NFC and embedded secure element (eSE) solutions built into reference designs for Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 600, 400 and 200 processor based platforms to now also include pre-validation for NFC-based transit services, particularly those in China. More

PayPal to add NFC payments to Android app

An upcoming version of PayPal’s Android app is to bring with it NFC payments capability, the online payment giant has announced at Mobile World Congress. 18 million consumers have also opted in to use the company’s One Touch mobile payment solution since its launch in August 2014, PayPal adds, which is now being rolled out to an additional 120 markets, taking the total to 143 territories. More

Samsung Pay hits 5m users and is set for global expansion in 2016

Samsung Pay now has approximately five million users in South Korea and the US who have processed more than $500m through the mobile payment service in the first six months since its launch. The service is due to be rolled out in China next month, Samsung has revealed, followed by a global expansion to Australia, Brazil, Singapore, Spain, the UK and Canada later in the year. More
