London-based print specialist Diginate has created Rough Draft, a concept interactive beer that uses NFC tags placed on beer bottles to send simultaneous messages to home, work and friends.

ACS to pilot NFC loyalty and rewards in Singapore

NFC startup Advanced Card Solutions is set to launch a mobile loyalty and rewards trial in Singapore. The ACS mCard Wallet application will allow merchants to create virtual loyalty and reward cards, offers and discount coupons for their customers, who can then tap their phones on NFC readers in participating stores to redeem loyalty points and rewards.

Korean art show picks NFC

An exhibition at Seoul’s Savina Museum of Contemporary Art is to use NFC to allow visitors to download high definition images, delve into the stories behind each photograph and write and share reviews on Facebook.

RBC to launch NFC payments in the cloud

Canadian bank RBC is to introduce an NFC mobile payments service that stores customers’ card details in the cloud. RBC Secure Cloud will launch later this year and will  be delivered “through partnerships with mobile service providers”. Customers of RBC and mobile network operator Bell will be the first to use the service.

Guinness fans around the UK can tap their Android or BlackBerry NFC phone to an NFC-enabled pub drinks dispenser to get the chance of winning a free pint of the black stuff, courtesy of a promotion being run until the end of August by the Diageo-owned brand.

NFC Ring smashes crowdfunding goal with 2,100 backers in just four days

A UK-based startup raising funds on Kickstarter for a finger ring that lets users unlock NFC-enabled doors and devices and share information via NFC has amassed pledges totalling almost double its £30,000 (US$46,000) target in just four days.

iPhone NFC payments arrive in the UK

The Moneto prepaid mobile wallet service, which uses DeviceFidelity’s microSD-based NFC technology, is now available in the UK via a partnership with payments processor Kalixa Group and MasterCard.
