Bank-led industry association Mobey Forum is participating in the Trusted Computing Group‘s Industry Liaison Programme. The two organisations will work together to enhance the development of security standards in mobile financial services. “The current security standards for mobile devices lack the perspective of financial institutions, and their specific needs for mobile payments and mobile banking,” explains Mobey Forum chairman Ron van Wezel.

Mobile financial services association Mobey Forum has published Control Points In Mobile Wallets (PDF), the second in a series of white papers exploring issues around the deployment of mobile wallet solutions. “If the mobile wallet is to develop to its full potential, it is important to understand how the mobile wallet landscape can be influenced and in particular how stakeholders can control one or more parts of the ecosystem,” says the association.

“Mobey Forum strongly believes in and promotes the concept of the mobile wallet as an open platform rather than a system limited to the provider’s partnerships,” says the mobile financial services association in a new white paper (PDF) which calls for ownership of a mobile wallet to reside with the end user. “When the mobile wallet is an open platform, the ultimate decision on opting for and managing services rests with the user. From a branding point of view, the wallet could very well be white-labelled, and the choice left to the user as to what services and brands the user connects to this.”

Mobey Forum, the global mobile financial services trade association, has published ‘Business Models for NFC Payments’, a white paper focusing on NFC mobile payments at the point of sale. The document details four approaches to implementing NFC based on potential business models and offers a gap analysis on what the industry still needs to achieve.
