    Billing System brings OTI NFC readers to Japan

    Payment service provider Billing System is to offer On Track Innovations’ (OTI) suite of NFC readers and devices to Japanese retailers, vending machine operators and taxi companies. “Japan’s current cashless payment settlement infrastructure, Felica, is unique to the domestic market and not compatible with international NFC services,” the companies say. “These settlement services are based on international standards.”

    OTI to support Android Pay

    NFC and cashless payment solutions provider On Track Innovations has integrated support for Android Pay payments and rewards into its Saturn NFC readers. “OTI’s Android Pay-enabled NFC reader will automatically recognise and apply loyalty cards loaded in Android Pay,” the company explains. “Similarly, Android Pay users will benefit from the ability to receive, store and present offers with enabled merchants.”

    Taiwanese banks to use Wave NFC dongle

    Taiwan Mobile Payment Co (TWMP), the consortium of regional banks bringing NFC payments to market in Taiwan, is to use Oti Wave, the NFC payment dongle developed by On Track Innovations. TWMP was formed in July 2014 by three Taiwanese banking groups and has since signed up 27 banks to use its NFC hub to connect with local carriers. Oti Wave, unveiled in 2012, is certified by Visa and MasterCard, and has also been adopted by Hong Kong ATM network JetCo. The device has also been tested by a major US bank.

    US bank tests NFC Wave add-on

    “One of the largest financial institutions in North America” is conducting an NFC mobile payments pilot that uses the Wave NFC device developed by On Track Innovations (OTI) in combination with provisioning and mobile wallet technology provided by ABnote. Wave is certified by both Visa and MasterCard and has also been selected by Hong Kong’s Joint Electronic Teller Services (Jetco) for an NFC payments service it is to offer consumers via its 30 member banks.

    Visa certifies OTI NFC add-on

    OTI has received Visa certification for its Wave NFC add-on, a device that plugs into the audio jack of a smartphone, tablet or PC to enable NFC payments. Wave is already certified by MasterCard and is to be used for cross-border mobile payments by a group of banks in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

    OTI gets Isis POS approval

    On Track Innovations’ range of Saturn NFC-enabled POS terminals have received certification from US carrier joint venture Isis for use with Isis Mobile Wallet. “Receiving certification from Isis provides additional validation of our NFC technology platform,” says OTI CEO Ofer Tziperman.

    OTI wins $10m US NFC order

    Contactless technology specialist On Track Innovations has signed a contract to provide US$10m worth of NFC readers with “one of its US channel partners who primarily serves the unattended retail market in North America.” An initial 40,000 readers are due to be shipped by the end of 2013. The order is additional to a 30,000 unit US order received in May.

    OTI wins US NFC order

    Contactless specialist On Track Innovations has received an order for 30,000 NFC and contactless payment readers from a US-based supplier of technology solutions to the retail petroleum industry. The readers include support for Isis’s SmartTap payments and offers technology and a custom designed antenna, allowing them to be installed as a kit in the unnamed customer’s range of products. All the readers will be shipped this year.

    OTI wins $2m US NFC POS order

    Contactless and NFC specialist On Track Innovations (OTI) reports that it has received an order valued at US$2m for NFC and contactless payment readers to be deployed in the US. 25% of the order is to be fulfilled this year with the rest to be delivered in 2013.

    OTI picks up US patents

    Israel-based contactless technology developer On Track Innovations has been granted two new patents. US patent 8,195,236, “Retrofit contactless smart SIM functionality in mobile communicators” covers adding NFC to mobile phones with a SIM+antenna add-on, while US patent 8,186,602, “Multi-application contactless smart card“, deals with supporting multiple applications or payment mechanisms on a single contactless device.

    Turkcell equips 300,000 customers with T-series NFC capable phones

    On Track Innovations (OTI) has been granted a US patent on its SIM+antenna NFC technology. US patent 8,090,407, “Contactless Smart SIM”, describes several ways of adding NFC to an existing mobile handset using a special SIM card and an attached antenna.
