    Prepaid card provider Blackhawk Network is to integrate gift cards, egifts, loyalty and rewards programs into Apple Pay. “The technology will enable Blackhawk to serve as a digital pass provider for merchants,” the company says. “Consumers have the option to store, manage and make payments with gift and loyalty cards using their Apple Wallet, and retailers have the resources needed to make improved digital connections with shoppers.”

    iOS 9 adds loyalty cards to Apple Pay

    Apple has begun rolling out its latest software update, iOS 9, which brings store credit cards and reward cards to Apple Pay. “Soon you’ll be able to add your favourite store credit cards and reward cards to your Wallet app to make purchases and redeem rewards,” the company says. Apple announced its plans to add loyalty cards to its mobile payment service in June 2015.

    Flint adds Apple Wallet support

    Mobile payment provider Flint has added a new feature to its platform that lets its business users create coupons and distribute them to Apple Wallet users. “Businesses can easily create offers in the Flint app and send text messages with links that automatically download customized coupons into the Apple Wallet,” Flint says. “The app will handle redemption via an embedded QR code reader.”

    Whole Foods to add loyalty card to Apple Pay

    US grocery chain Whole Foods Market will be among the first companies to add their loyalty cards to Apple Pay later this year, alongside iOS 9 and the Passbook app to be renamed ‘Wallet’. Verifone said it would be first to support loyalty cards through its NFC terminals, with 9to5Mac saying those companies will include Dunkin’ Donuts, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Panera, Wegmans and Whole Foods.
