Chinese mobile payments giant Alipay is targeting 2bn users globally in the next decade, the company’s Douglas Feagin has revealed at Money20/20 in Las Vegas. “Our goal is to expand our business from 450m users in China to over 2bn worldwide over the next decade,” Feagin says. “We want to achieve over one million merchants outside of China over the next several years.” Alipay is expanding its presence in US and European retail stores via a deal with POS maker Verifone. A similar deal with First Data has also been unveiled, allowing Chinese consumers to shop at select locations in California and New York from next month.

Shoppers at Adobe’s prototype “store of the future” in Las Vegas are being given RFID chip-enabled shopping bags that allow them to purchase items simply by putting the bags on a checkout counter. “The bags automatically inventory any items put in them and then charge a customer’s credit card when they exit the store,” Fast reports. “Beacons in the store help the retailer identify the customer.”

PARTNER NEWS: Visitors at CTIA Super Mobility Week 2015 in Las Vegas and IBC 2015 in Amsterdam were able to capture and exchange business cards with other attendees using NFC badges powered by NXP’s Mifare DESFire EV1 chips. Drivers in Las Vegas can pick up offers from local businesses via 16 interactive on-street parking meters.
