    Samsung Pay to add P2P payments?

    Korean startup Hankook NFC has reportedly applied for a patent for a hardware module that would allow consumers to use Samsung Pay to transfer money between devices and pay with a credit card. “Once the module is installed, smartphones can be used as mobile credit card payment terminals,” Business Korea reports. “When you order some food for delivery or go to a gas station, you can pay for food or gas with your smartphone without any wireless credit card payment devices.”

    iPhone 6s includes NXP’s 66V10 NFC controller

    A teardown conducted by iFixit shows that Apple has included NXP’s 66V10 controller in the new iPhone 6s models — a different chip to the 65V10 module included in the iPhone 6. NXP declined to comment on the differences between the two parts when asked by NFC World.

    Apple builds NFC tech into iPad Air 2

    A teardown of the iPad Air 2 by iFixit has found that Apple has included an NXP 65V10 NFC module in the new tablet. The part is the same used to provide NFC functionality in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and its inclusion is a surprise as no mention of any NFC capability was made when the iPad Air 2 was announced last week.

    Pay and display goes NFC

    Parking and transportation ticketing equipment supplier IEM is to bring NFC payments to an initial 1,000 solar powered ‘pay and display’ parking ticket machines in France, using UIC’s UIC680 low power payments module. Motorists will be able to pay for parking with a range of contactless cards or their NFC phone. Presto Pay NFC will then be gradually added to around 5,000 machines in other European countries, IEM’s Phillipe Menaud told NFC World.
