Motorola launches NFC-enabled version of MC75A mobile computer

Motorola has unveiled an NFC-enabled mobile computer, a seven-in-one device that combines mobile communication and secure contactless transaction capability.

Motorola MC75A-HF

The MC75A HF is a lightweight yet rugged handheld ‘enterprise digital assistant’ that incorporates a range of capabilities such as a 3.5G worldwide phone, two-way radio communications, a barcode scanner, GPS and an HF RFID reader/writer for NFC and other contactless communications.

Government-grade security includes FIPS 140-2 certification and support for encryption, authentication and high-performance virtual private networks for compliance with industry regulations such as PCI and HIPAA.

Bob Sanders, senior vice president of enterprise solutions and wireless network solutions at Motorola, says the new model delivers the right feature set for ticketing, secure transaction and payment, identity management and asset management applications.

“The MC75A HF represents a continued focus on merging smart technologies into ergonomic and usable mobile devices,” he adds.

“The increasing use of RFID technology in a range of sectors, including retail, transport and logistics and by government organisations, presents Motorola Solutions with a great opportunity to incorporate its market-leading technology into devices which meet customer needs today.”
