Identive shows open NFC access control with Plaid

Identive unveiled an open standards based NFC physical access control solution at last week’s ISC West tradeshow in Las Vegas.

The system uses NFC phones and the Protocol for Lightweight Authentication of Identity (Plaid), a government-grade secure authentication protocol developed in Australia, along with the company’s new TouchSecure readers to control access to buildings and IT networks.

“By introducing an open source industry standard authentication protocol on top of NFC, we have for the first time provided a way for customers to invest in NFC technology for physical access with confidence that the solutions will be interoperable with other standards-based offerings,” says Identive’s David Holmes.
