Tip.ly uses face recognition to let users leave tips with their phone

Tip.ly

Startup Tip.ly has launched Face Tips, a service that lets users tip service workers by simply taking a photo of the server’s face with a mobile phone.

The recipient then has fourteen days to log in to the service using any camera-equipped device to submit their photo and bank details to safely collect their payment.

“Gone are the days of worrying about having enough cash before flying out on a business trip, getting your hair cut or valeting your car on date night,” the startup says. “With Tip.ly you can tip anyone, anywhere simply by taking a picture of their smiling face.”
