BKM and Mekanist let Turkish diners pay by beacon

Olivia's Pizzeria

Diners at Turkish restaurant Olivia’s Pizzeria have become the first in the country to be able to use their BKM Express digital wallet to pay for their meals with their mobile phone.

BKM has partnered with venue discovery platform Mekanist for the service and the partners now plan to expand the service to restaurants across Turkey.

“The payment can be made in two different methods thanks to the merchant application, developed for Olivia’s Pizzeria,” BKM explains.

“The users log in to the Mekanist application after they ask for their bill, and move their phones close to the terminal brought by the waiter. They finish the payment easily and quickly via BKM Express through iBeacon technology. Another option for the users is to pay via QR code.

“When they scan the QR code on the terminal, they can make their payments very easily and quickly via BKM Express. Such easy and quick payments are not only convenient for users but also for the restaurant owners.”

“We wanted to take a role in this project in order to closely monitor the developments in the dining industry,” says Turgut Kagitci, founder of Olivia’s Pizzeria. “There is no doubt that this innovation will attract quite a lot of attention of young and tech-savvy population of our country. As Olivia’s, we are quite excited to be the first brand that will introduce this technology.”
