PARTNER NEWS: Mobile money specialist Mahindra Comviva has produced a video that shows how NFC payments are being deployed in Africa by Zimbabwe-based carrier Econet Wireless. The film provides an overview of the mobile network operator’s EcoCash service and explains how it has been expanded since its launch as a peer-to-peer money transfer solution in 2011.
“Econet Wireless is altering the way financial transactions are performed in Zimbabwe by making EcoCash the primary way for people to transfer money and pay for goods and services,” Mahindra Comviva says.
“Today, five million customers use EcoCash, accounting for nearly 55% of Zimbabwe’s adult population. EcoCash is powered by Mahindra Comviva’s Mobiquity Money platform, facilitating Zimbabwe’s transformation to a cash-light economy.”
