Walmart to add Chase Pay to Walmart Pay service later this year

Chase Pay
INTEGRATION: Chase Pay and Walmart Pay’s mobile payments systems will join forces

US retail giant Walmart has become the latest to announce its support for Chase Pay, with plans to enable its customers to make payments through the mobile payment service online and in-app as well as in-store, by integrating Chase Pay within its own Walmart Pay QR code-based mobile payment service.

Chase Pay is currently live on “select merchant websites”, JPMorgan Chase says, but the service “will launch for mobile payments at participating merchant registers and a form of payment in select merchant apps later this year”.

“We are excited about the opportunity to provide our customers with even greater convenience and value to our Walmart Pay app,” says Mike Cook, senior vice president and assistant treasurer for Walmart.

“Adding Chase Pay as an option within Walmart Pay and online will create an enhanced experience for our customers.”

Walmart Pay was unveiled in December 2015 and went live for iPhone users in April 2016, before completing a nationwide rollout in July this year. Chase Pay was unveiled during Money20/20 in Las Vegas in October 2015.
