CHANGING HABITS: Nine out of 10 drivers approve of the mobile payments service

More than 10,000 Spanish customers have made use of retail company Carrefour’s fuel station mobile payments service since it was launched in the summer, with nine out of 10 saying it was a “very satisfying” experience.

The company, which has 125 stations in Spain, offered the mobile payment service to Pass card holders in June 2016 through its ‘Mi Carrefour’ app, allowing customers to pay for fuel without leaving their vehicle.

Using geolocation, the fuel station where the customer is located is recorded. He or she then chooses the supplier, product and amount before filling up and driving away. Discount coupons can also be used at the time of payment.

“The new system has already changed the habits of its users,” Carrefour says. “More than 10,000 customers have already tried this option to pay for their fuel stops and nine out of 10 have highlighted this as much more comfortable and safe. Along with pricing and discounts, [these are] the main advantages of Carrefour service stations.”

  1. I like SpeedPass Plus from Exxon/Mobil. Prefer stations that offer it. It is convenient and secure. Also like Alltown.
