Samsung Pay adds Singapore transport payments with EZ-Link

EZ-Link NFC SIM
DEVELOPMENT: EZ-Link NFC SIM enables NFC mobile payments on transit and in retail

Samsung Pay users in Singapore can add their EZ-Link NFC SIM cards to compatible Samsung devices and pay for public transport as well as retail purchases, in the same way as they would using their plastic EZ-Link contactless transit card.

“Consumers can now use selected Samsung devices the same way an EZ-Link card is used for public transit and retail payments,” Samsung says.

“EZ-Link NFC SIM customers can also enjoy the added benefit of using Samsung Pay for their EZ-Link transactions, such as checking their transaction history and value balance.”

Prize offers

Throughout November, Samsung Pay is also giving users who link their EZ-Link NFC SIM service to Samsung Pay the chance to win a variety of prizes including Samsung Wireless Charging Pads and Gear IconX.

The EZ-Link NFC SIM service is currently available on Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 devices and will be available on the Galaxy A9 Pro device “at a later date”.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the EZ-Link NFC SIM, we are delighted to extend it as a new feature on Samsung Pay,” says Nicholas Lee, CEO of EZ-Link. “Samsung users can now enjoy even greater convenience in their daily commute and shopping with one mobile application.

“This collaboration elevates EZ-Link’s pioneering efforts in realising NFC payments in public transport further forward and paves the way for joint development of other value-added services in the future.”

EZ-Link NFC SIM enables NFC mobile payments on MRT and LRT trains and public buses, and is available from mobile network operators M1, Singtel and StarHub.

Samsung Pay launched in Singapore in June 2016, after announcing its plans to do so earlier in the same month.
