The LG Optimus Vu‘s headline feature is a large 4:3 aspect ratio screen, but Japanese blog Datacider reports that the Android 2.3-based handset’s specs include a 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 Snapdragon system on a chip, a five inch display, an eight megapixel camera and NFC.

The Optimus Vu appears to be pitched against the Samsung Galaxy Note.

LG has produced a video trailing the new phone, available in Korea from 6 March 2012 at around US$890.

From September 2012 the LG Intuition, a variant of the device running Android 4.0 and boasting LTE support, is available in the US on Verizon.
