Motorola invests in mobile barcode company

Motorola Ventures has announced an investment in Scanbuy, a leading supplier of mobile 1D and 2D barcode solutions. Motorola acted as lead investor and was joined by Masthead Venture Partners, Hudson Ventures and select private investors. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed. More

G&D and ARM to develop mobile device security solutions

ARM and Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at the development of highly secure mobile phone platforms. The partnership will combine ARM’s TrustZone technology, which creates a protected area in advanced systems-on-chip, and G&D’s secure MobiCore operating system to develop secure solutions for sensitive applications such as electronic payment and online banking via mobile phone. US smartphone users keen to make payments with their phones

An in-depth survey of 246 US smartphone users conducted by wireless industry research specialists Data Innovation has found that nearly two-thirds are interested in adding mobile wallet functionality to their phones. Only 10% stated they were not interested in a mobile wallet, and 25% said they were not sure. More
