    Ant Financial invests in Korea and Philippines

    Alipay parent company Ant Financial is to invest US$200m in South Korean mobile finance platform Kakao Pay to “expand its online and offline payment coverage”. Ant Financial has also made its first investment in the Philippines, announcing a strategic partnership to “scale up” mobile operator Globe Telecom’s mobile wallet and digital financial service Mynt.

    Singtel integrates taxi app with wallet

    Customers using communications provider Singtel Group’s mobile wallet services in Southeast Asia will soon be able to book and pay for taxis through the GrabTaxi mobile app. “Customers of AIS, Globe and Telkomsel will be able to book vehicles using the GrabTaxi app and pay for rides using their personal mobile wallets,” Singtel Group says. “The open platform integration to GrabTaxi’s app is expected to be ready by mid-2016.”
