    SumUp and Payleven merge

    UK mobile payment companies SumUp and Payleven have announced that they are to merge and operate as one company under the SumUp name. “By joining forces, the combined company will be perfectly positioned to leverage both SumUp’s proprietary end-to-end hardware and payment platform and Payleven’s leading merchant acquisition capabilities to accelerate growth in a very dynamic market,” SumUp says. “Existing merchants are not affected by the transaction.”

    Payleven raises $10m for mPOS growth

    European mobile point of sale specialist Payleven has closed a US$10m Series D funding round, bringing the total raised to date to $51m. “The newly secured investment provides Payleven with additional growth capital,” the company says. Payleven introduced a chip and PIN reader that supports NFC in 2014.

    Payleven to offer NFC mPOS

    European mobile point of sale specialist Payleven is to introduce a chip and pin reader that supports NFC and contactless card transactions during the second half of 2014. The device “will be offered for a much lower price than other NFC card readers currently on the market and will significantly broaden the potential for smaller businesses in the UK to accept NFC card payments,” the company says.
