US bank Chase is to begin supporting Microsoft Wallet “next year” according to a tweet from Chase Support. “Readers should note, however, that Microsoft Wallet only works on some of the newest Lumia devices, including the Lumia 650, 950 and 950 XL,” MSPoweruser reports. The NFC mobile payment service was unveiled in June 2016 with initial support from nine other US banks and financial institutions. PNC added its backing in August.

Microsoft will unveil a new Wallet 2.0 app this summer that will bring with it host card emulation (HCE) mobile payments, an internal build of the updated app seen by Windows Central reveals. “I was able to enable Tap to Pay successfully on a Bank of America debit card,” the publication reports. “When first launched, Wallet will check your Microsoft Account for any credit cards already linked and import those for Tap to Pay. My Lumia 950 even utilized Windows Hello for my account authentication.”

Microsoft has added its Windows Hello biometric authentication solution to its Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL devices, launched at a press event in New York this week. “Windows Hello Beta is an incredibly personal and secure way to unlock your Lumia 950/950 XL — simply wake up your device, look directly at the screen and our infrared camera technology automatically authenticates you,” Microsoft says.
