The online payments provider has partnered with Nokia to introduce an NFC service that allows users to transfer money and to make payments in bars, restaurants and stores.

Nokia has launched its 700, 701, 600 and N9 NFC handsets in Thailand. The announcement sells NFC as a secure method of making small purchases and paying for mass transit tickets as well as pushing Nokia’s more usual sharing, pairing and tag reading line. The devices will be available in stores from mid-October.

An NFC-enabled version of hit video game Fruit Ninja is to be pre-loaded on Nokia 701, Nokia 700 and Nokia 600 Symbian Belle NFC phones.

Nokia’s recently announced 700, 701 and 600 handsets — as well as the existing C7 — will be able to support secure NFC services from the first half of 2012, the company has told NFC World. All future Symbian smartphones will also support NFC.

The three new devices range in price from €180 to €290 and run a new version of Symbian that integrates NFC more deeply, allowing pictures to be shared, devices to be paired and check-ins to be made with a single tap.
