UK black cabs to get Bluetooth beacons

    News in brief

Commuters in taxi cabs across the UK cities of London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham will soon receive context-relevant messages as they travel. A total of 4,000 Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons are being installed in taxis by mobile proximity marketing provider Proxama and taxi advertising provider Ubiquitous. Proxama also partnered out-of-home media owner Exterion to roll out beacons across public transport services.

It sounds like a pretty interesting use case of BLE Beacons. As average cab journey lasts around 20 minute I am sure people won’t mind spending some time looking at the new content and ads.

We folks at Mindbowser are pretty excited to try out new things with BLE Beacons. Reach Out to us at if you share the same passion or want to build a solution for yourself.
