Customers of Gulf Bank Kuwait can now log in to their mobile banking app by scanning their face or fingerprint through mobile biometric technology provider Daon’s IdentityX platform. “Daon’s IdentityX platform provides fingerprint, face and voice recognition, along with other authentication factors which will provide convenient, fast, secure authentication for Gulf Bank Kuwait’s customers,” Daon says.

Gulf Bank has become the first bank in Kuwait to launch contactless POS terminals capable of accepting NFC payments, following a partnership with electronic banking services company Knet and MasterCard. The service will be available at Costa Coffee stores across the country and will be rolled out to other outlets.

Boloro Kuwait has completed a contactless payments pilot on public transit in Kuwait City. The trial, in partnership with mobile network Zain, saw customers use contactless stickers attached to their phones to pay for journeys on buses operated by Kuwait Public Transport Company (KPTC) and CityGroup. A 16 digit code links the Boloro sticker to the customer’s prepaid mobile account, and a receipt delivered by SMS confirms each transaction. “The pilot has been a success on all counts,” says the company.
