Taglio offers smartcard-secured access for Android devices

Smart card security specialist Taglio has produced a smart card integration kit for Android devices that supports contactless cards and NFC devices as well as standard mobile phones and employee cards, enabling companies to provide staff with a way to securely access internal resources from their mobile phones.

Strategy Analytics lowers NFC payments forecast

Strategy Analytics has “marginally lowered” its outlook for NFC mobile payments “to reflect the slow pace at which operators are pushing NFC payments service, limited NFC payment deployments by OEMs, and the continued slow adoption of contactless payments by retailers.”

CBS Outdoor picks Proxama for NFC

Global out-of-home advertising provider CBS Outdoor has selected Proxama’s TapPoint platform to add NFC capabilities to its outdoor media estate. More than 8,000 locations in the UK and Europe are due to go live by the end of next year.

OTI gets MasterCard approval for Wave NFC add-on

Contactless technology specialist On Track Innovations (OTI) has received MasterCard Mobile PayPass certification for Wave Dongle, an add-on that plugs into the audio jack of a standard mobile device to provide users with NFC payments capabilities.

SK Planet’s radical touchpoint design sees NFC interaction soar

A radical new NFC touchpoint design, coupled with the offer of nationally redeemable rewards, led to consumer interactions increasing by a factor of more than 20 at a recent exhibition in Korea, SK Planet has told NFC World. The touchpoints are now to be rolled out to 10,000 Korean retailers from next month.

French drivers to get multi-functional NFC licenses

French drivers are now being issued with new multi-application driving licenses based on contactless smart cards that contain both a public and a private data area. The private area can only be accessed and verified by police and other authorities while the public area can be read by an NFC phone and used by third parties to, for instance, store insurance details and virtual keys.
