Rogers and CIBC switch on NFC payments in Canada

Canadian athlete Simon Whitfield has completed Canada's first NFC transaction, at a Tim Hortons coffee shop, and customers of the bank and mobile network operator can now order an NFC-enabled Rogers SIM ahead of the full commercial launch of the new mobile payments service on 16 November.

Leaked images suggest physical Google Wallet card on its way

A series of screenshots published by Android Police indicate that Google is set to offer a physical companion card for its Google Wallet service. The card would work in the same way as the virtual MasterCard currently available with Google Wallet 2.0, allowing users to charge purchases to their choice of debit or credit card at any merchant “where major credit and debit cards are accepted”.
