South West Trains provides passengers with special offers via NFC

New York City to pilot NFC parking meters

The New York City Department of Transportation is to pilot test PayByPhone‘s mobile payments system, which is already live in San Francisco, Miami, London and Vancouver, in an 18 block area of the Belmont Business Improvement District in the Bronx.

Seamless adds NFC to QR payments platform

Seqr does not require merchants to install new hardware and promises to cut transaction fees in half by bypassing the traditional payments networks. McDonald's, Axfood and Kjell & Company have already adopted the system in Sweden.

Samsung adds Galaxy Mega 6.3-inch NFC phone

Samsung has added a new smartphone to its Galaxy range. The Galaxy Mega  “phablet” comes in two sizes, with a 6.3-inch or 5.8-inch HD LCD screen. The 6.3-inch model will come with NFC. Both versions will be available globally, beginning in Europe and Russia in May 2013.
