NFC transport ticketing service to launch in Valencia

Mobile network operator Orange has partnered with Valencia’s department of infrastructure and transport to develop an NFC payment service for public transport in the region. The service is set to launch commercially by the end of this year in Alicante town and will then be expanded to the rest of Valencia in a step-by-step rollout.

Russian carriers launch joint NFC ticketing service in Kazan

Russian mobile network operators MTS, MegaFon, Vimpelcom and Rostelecom have launched a joint NFC public transportation service in the city of Kazan, in partnership with Transport Card and the GSM Association (GSMA).

Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong carriers sign NFC collaboration deal

Taiwan’s largest mobile network operator, Chunghwa Telecom, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan’s KDDI and Hong Kong-based PCCW with the aim of providing international NFC roaming services to the three networks’ customers.

NFC couponing service launches in Tokyo stores

Korean mobile network operator SK Telecom‘s subsidiary SK Planet has launched an NFC couponing service in the Shin-Okubo neighbourhood of Tokyo, the centre of the city’s Korean community, in partnership with Japanese carriers KDDI and Softbank Mobile.
