    ABnote to add HCE to TSM platform

    Global card manufacturer and NFC service provider ABnote is to integrate SimplyTapp’s host card emulation (HCE) technology into its trusted service manager (TSM) platform, enabling card issuers to deploy cloud-based NFC payments solutions to their customers.

    Visa unveils host card emulation specification for NFC payments

    Visa has introduced a new standard that uses host card emulation (HCE) to enable financial institutions to securely host Visa accounts in the cloud. The standard is available now and will include support for QR codes and in-app payments in the future.

    MasterCard backs host card emulation for NFC payments

    MasterCard is to publish a new specification during the first half of 2014 that uses host card emulation (HCE) for NFC mobile payments — avoiding the need to have access to a secure element on a customer’s mobile phone — and is already testing the technology with Spain’s Banco Sabadell and Capital One in the US.

    Octopus and Alibaba add NFC security to ecommerce

    Hong Kong prepaid card provider Octopus has partnered with Chinese online giant Alibaba's Taobao ecommerce platform and Alipay mobile payments service to let customers make secure online purchases using a combination of contactless cards, QR codes and NFC phones.
