Milan airport installs 50,000 NFC tags

Malpensa Airport in Milan, Italy, has installed a new maintenance system that uses NFC phones and a network of 50,000 NFC and RFID tags attached to equipment and systems around the airport — including fire extinguishers, elevators, sprinklers and boarding bridges.

Narvesen expands NFC loyalty across Latvia

Norwegian convenience store chain Narvesen has launched an NFC sticker based loyalty program across all of its 250 stores in Latvia, and the company has told NFC World that mobile payments are a possibility in the near future.

Survey reveals demand for contactless and NFC payments in Dubai

A survey published by digital security specialist Gemalto has shown a high demand for contactless and NFC payments in Dubai, with 85% of those polled saying they would ‘like’ or ‘love’ to use their mobile handset as a contactless payment method and 72% seeing no obstacle at all when using mobile NFC.

UL gets EMVCo accreditation for mobile payments testing

UL has extended its testing services to include Application Activation User Interface (AAUI) and Proximity Payment System Environment (PPSE) testing, enabling payments technology providers to ensure their products adhere to EMVCo’s Contactless Mobile Payment Product Type Approval requirements.

Dubai shopping mall to launch NFC and Bluetooth mobile loyalty program

The Wafi shopping mall in Dubai is to introduce a new service that allows shoppers to collect and redeem loyalty points with their mobile phone using either NFC or Bluetooth. The service is also expected to be rolled out at a European amusement park later this year.
