French winery picks NFC tags for authentication

Prestigious Bordeaux winery Château Le Pin, which produces some of the most expensive wines in the world, has partnered with NFC object identification specialist Selinko to attach NFC tags to wine bottles so users can authenticate the vintage with the tap of their phone.

Poste Italiane’s NFC payments service has been rolled out to the cities of Rome and Turin, following its launch in Milan last December. The service is now set to expand across the rest of Italy by the end of 2013.

Think&Go debuts NFC video game

Think&Go NFC has unveiled a phone-to-screen video game that makes use of its Dynamic NFC-Screen. Players use their NFC phone to control the game and collect points by touching six tags spread across the screen, while gameplay elements move seamlessly between the handset and the screen and vice-versa.

Sporting goods giant Adidas is adding a “lace jewel” with an embedded NFC chip to its Boost running shoes, enabling shoppers with an NFC phone to tap it for detailed product information and to see reviews.

The Institute of Microelectronic Applications in the Czech Republic has launched NFC Porter, an NFC-based identification system that includes an NFC reader designed to connect to any existing access control or ID system.
