    Helsinki uses 20,000 NFC tags

    Nearly 20,000 NFC tags from UPM RFID will be embedded in smart posters and stickers used to promote Helsinki’s year as the World Design Capital. The BullsEye NFC tags feature NXP’s Mifare Ultralight chips and will direct smartphone users to download a WDC 2012 app which acts as a guide to events and the 300 design projects taking place in the Finnish capital during 2012.

    Tagage offers tag store app

    NFC tag vendor Tagage has launched a mobile app that allows users to order custom NFC tags and stickers directly from their phones. Tagage Mobile, from Hansaprint and UPM RFID, does not require knowledge of NFC coding and allows easy upload of images and text. Content is then encoded, printed and shipped globally in small or large quantities. The free app is available now for Symbian and an Android version is expected to be available in January 2012.

    NFC inlay manufacturer UPM RFID has launched a website that acts as a hub to connect consumers, developers and businesses with online NFC tag stores around the world. NFCtags.com, says the Finnish company, “brings together the most comprehensive selection of NFC online vendors, converters and printing houses by service area and expertise.”
