    FIS to offer Zelle support

    Banking and payments technology provider FIS is to offer Early Warning’s Zelle P2P payment service to its financial institutions. “The partnership with Early Warning will enable FIS financial institutions to join the Zelle network quickly and with minimal effort,” FIS says. Zelle was unveiled at Money20/20 in October 2016, and was built on top of the existing ClearXChange network.

    Samsung Pay aims for Taiwan mobile payments lead

    Samsung Pay is aiming to grasp “the largest share” of the Taiwan market following approval from the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) to enter the country, along with Apple Pay and Android Pay. “Several banks that work with the three mobile payment brands are testing their systems and seek approval from the FSC before the Samsung services kick off in the local market,” China Post reports. Samsung Pay’s Thomas Ko spoke to NFC World about the mobile payment service’s expansion plans at Money20/20 last month.

    Alipay targets 2bn global users

    Chinese mobile payments giant Alipay is targeting 2bn users globally in the next decade, the company’s Douglas Feagin has revealed at Money20/20 in Las Vegas. “Our goal is to expand our business from 450m users in China to over 2bn worldwide over the next decade,” Feagin says. “We want to achieve over one million merchants outside of China over the next several years.” Alipay is expanding its presence in US and European retail stores via a deal with POS maker Verifone. A similar deal with First Data has also been unveiled, allowing Chinese consumers to shop at select locations in California and New York from next month.
