INTERCEDE: MyID goes NFC in DC

Intercede’s MyID identification card technology is used by 14 US federal agencies as well as the US Transportation Worker Identity Credential program (TWIC). Four US financial institutions also use the technology and 320,000 MyID smart corporate identity badges have been issued to staff of Boeing, Booz Allen Hamilton and Lockheed Martin. In Europe and the Middle East MyID is being deployed in support of a number of government identity, health and corporate employee ID security projects.

Dr Chris Edwards, Intercede’s CTO, will be presenting a paper at the event on the use of mobile phones to deliver US government approved PIV (FIPS-201 Personal Identity Verification) credentials and explaining how two mobile users can validate each other using NFC peer-to-peer technology. “Corporate and government users now have the technology at their fingertips to read and send secure encrypted emails from their mobile devices,” says Edwards.

“Intercede’s approach to the OTA provisioning of PIV and other electronic credentials is setting a new benchmark for ease of use, security and convenience,” adds chief executive Richard Parris. “With the technological complexities now solved we are working with policy makers to ensure any final barriers to adoption are removed.”
