HP puts NFC into enterprise printers

Hewlett Packard has announced two add-on units for existing printers and four new printers that use NFC to provide one-touch printing from mobile phones and other NFC devices.

The two NFC accessories are the HP NFC/Wireless 1200w USB add-on and the HPJetDirect 2800w, a module designed specifically for HP’s enterprise printers. The HP 1200w will be available in North America, Europe, China and Japan from mid-November at around US$69.99, with worldwide release following in February 2014. The HP 2800w will be available worldwide from December for $49.99.

The four new printers are all part of the company’s LaserJet range and are aimed at the business market. The LaserJet M806 and Color LaserJet M855 are enterprise printers (PDF) while the Color LaserJet MFP M880 and LaserJet MFP M830 are multi-function printers (PDF).

The M830, starting from $10,999, and the M806, starting at $3,399, are both now available worldwide. The M880 and M855 will both be released globally from 1 November, starting at $8,999 and $3,699 respectively.
