China UnionPay tests NFC and QR transit payments

Public transport alliances set to boost UnionPay — China Daily — “In the first 19 cities where UnionPay pilot mobile payment applications will be used in public transportation, UnionPay provides users with comprehensive solutions including mobile phone QuickPass, bankcard QuickPass and QR code payment… According to Ge Huayong, president of UnionPay, more than 40 banks now accept UnionPay’s QR code payment transactions and an additional 60 or so banks are testing their systems.”

UnionPay launches HCE mobile QuickPass in South Korea

Bankcard association UnionPay International has launched its host card emulation (HCE) and tokenization based mobile payment service in South Korea, enabling its cardholders to pay by tapping their mobile phones. The launch of UnionPay HCE mobile QuickPass is supported by mobile network operator KT and its subsidiary BCcard. More


Apple Pay launches in China

Apple Pay has begun rolling out across China, letting consumers pay in-store with compatible Apple devices using their China UnionPay credit and debit cards at QuickPass-enabled POS terminals as well as make purchases within participating mobile apps. More


Samsung Pay to launch in China with China UnionPay

Samsung has partnered with China UnionPay to bring its Samsung Pay mobile payments service to China in early 2016. The announcement comes as Apple reveals that it has also partnered with the bank card organisation to bring Apple Pay to Chinese consumers next year. More
